E-CITY PROGRAMS

In many Cleveland neighborhoods young people are limited in their creativity and ambition by a lack of resources and a culture that is rooted in poverty.  It is very difficult for them to break out of a limited view of life.

Young people need activities and role models that can help them envision a financially self-sufficient future and provide them with the skills they need to get there.  E CITY is here for that purpose, using entrepreneurship to teach important life skills while teaching youth how to make money.

Eligibility: E CITY’s  programs are open to youth in grades 7 through 12

Locations: In Cleveland middle schools and high schools (after school, 2-3 days per week for about one semester), and in certain community locations, such as community development corporations and Boys & Girls Clubs.  During the summer, E CITY offers two week “BizCamps” at Tri-C Metro Campus.

Cost: The program is free to the students.  E CITY works all year to raise the money needed to offer its program.

Staff and Resources: Program is taught by business people and teachers from the Cleveland area who have taken specialized training to become Certified Entrepreneurship Teachers. The curriculum is licensed from the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), which teaches entrepreneurship to low-income youth in 14 countries.

Methodology: In addition to test based classroom instruction, E CITY exposes students to field trips, guest speakers, hands-on-activities, business plan writing, and a business plan competition.  They are assisted by volunteers from the business community.

To Apply: Please call E CITY at 216-881-0735, email us at info@ecitycleveland.com, or visit website at www.ecitycleveland.com
